Maison D’Hiver – a chalet without compromise
Les Gets is buzzing, beautiful and so accessible, but despite all the available accommodation on offer it can still be difficult to find a chalet to evoke that truly nostalgic ‘Heidi in the mountains’ feel with views that you will remember for ever when you go back home, with sumptuous interiors that you could find in the pages of all the best chalet magazines! The wood is old, the main staircase made by hand, and wherever you look there are artisan touches and a feeling of quality which gives the space a special feel.
Maison D’Hiver has a 5 star classification, sleeps 12 and includes a personal concierge who will be in touch to guide you through a menu of services to create your perfect holiday before your arrival. The chalet is perfectly set up to accommodate up to two families each with their own private floor for sleeping. Entertainment for guests includes a hot tub, cinema/x box room, table tennis table and table football. On arrival all beds will be made up with high quality pure linen bedding and fluffy towels.
Maison D’Hiver is basked in sun from dawn until dusk in a truly desirable corner of Les Gets with the most decadent chalets. In the evening the lighting in the chalet is very ambient and sets a very relaxing scene.
It is a short drive to the slopes but the chalet comes with two ski in ski out car parking spaces in a prime spot in the centre of town, so you get the best of both worlds! If you are determined to put your car away for the week then you can just take the complementary bus to the slopes and if the snow conditions are right you can ski back to the chalet.
This is not a chalet that has been built for the rental market, it is very much a home that has been created for our family for the long term to enjoy and rent to the right people when we are not using it. I hope we can tempt you to give it a try.
Have a look at the chalet and its layout. You can find out availability on our booking page
Everything was perfect!
We had a fantastic week in your delightful chalet. How lucky you are! Everything was perfect. We wanted for nothing. Skiing conditions perfect for our needs and 2 lots of snow which made it all look magical. Fantastic bonus having your garage spaces in town and no problems getting in with the roof box. Thank you for your relaxed approach regarding the extra bed and the dog. Having spent the last 2 Feb half terms in Les Gets I am rather attached to the place!
Your house is simply stunning
Just a quick note to say that we had an amazing time. Your house is simply stunning, with so many nice places to be at any time of day and perfect to sit outside for long dinners watching the sun go down! If we can make it work we will be back next year.
Le Chalet est parfait!
On a été ravis de notre séjour. Le chalet est parfait.
Everything was so comfortable we can’t wait to book again!
We are in our car…driving from Maison D’Hiver to our home near Grasse/Cannes. We have had such a wonderful week in your stunning home.
We were extremely comfortable, felt very much at home and very much appreciated the generosity that Maison D’Hiver offers.
We loved all the decor and very much appreciated the very well thought out touches!
Everything was so comfortable we can’t wait to book again!
Petr is a great chalet manager and was very helpful with any little question we had! He made our check out very calm and relaxing! We didn’t want to leave!
We had Tamsin a local Chef come and cook for us on Friday night, she was great fun and served us a fabulous 4 course feast!
I just wanted to drop you a personal note to express our sincere thanks for a wonderful week and we very much hope it won’t be our only visit to Maison D’Hiver!
wonderfully comfortable, well-designed ski chalet
We had a wonderfully relaxing and luxurious week . The house is very comfortable with great beds, linen and bathrooms. The design and flow of the house is very thought-through with spaces to be together, but also for kids to have fun: movie room, jacuzi and fussball/football table etc.
Lots of charm in spite of having all the mod cons.
The views are beautiful. Everything is run very professionally and smoothly. We would go back in a flash. We loved it .
Just stunning
How to pen a review about the most perfect property? Words like magical, stunning, fabulous, majestic come to mind but don’t do it justice – perfect is just that. We have stayed at several high-end chalets through companies like Scott Dunn but this place was head an shoulders above all of them. The clear attention to detail and level of comfort was second to none. This was not so much a ski chalet but a winter home (perhaps the clue was in the name) with nothing to want for. An abiding memory was sitting in the large hot tub before dawn as a vast tract of starlit sky enlightened itself moment by moment as the light of dawn displaced the dark and a perfect day’s skiing beckoned. Sitting there at the end of day was equally magical as the sun disappeared down the valley. The chalet sits on the side of the hill and affords glorious views. This means that a car is needed but an integral garage means that any vehicle is kept warm overnight and the car park at the bottom of the Perriere chair is only 5 minutes away at the bottom of the hill and, being used to skiing in North America, this was no big deal – and worth it for the stunning views. Will I return? In an instant – but even if I don’t, this trip will live long in the memory, if not indefinitely.
Beautiful chalet in a stunning setting
We went out after Christmas with our slightly older kids (9 & 16). The chalet is gorgeous and there’s lots of space for kids and adults.
At the property – there’s a games room for kids and table football. From a mum’s perspective there are super-practical heated cupboards for all the wet boots, gloves, coats etc. There are shutters on every room so it’s easy to get pitch black for sleeping babies/kids. The kitchen has two ovens and two dishwashers which is great.
The location – the chalet is half way up a mountain so make sure you have snow chains that fit the vehicle (Hertz rentals gave us ones that were too small and we had a LOT of snow). You don’t have to drive if you don’t want to as there’s a 10 min walk to catch a bus that takes you right into the centre of Les Gets. It’s on a loop so is very frequent.
The town – Les Gets has loads of ski shops and places to eat.
My advice – take slippers and dressing gowns so you can get out to the amazing hot tub – perfect after a day out.
Beautiful scenery.
Loved it!
Maison D’hiver is truly like something out of James Bond movie…
Paradise in the Alps
Spent six days staying in unabashed luxury. Absolute perfection it appears that everything has been thought of. The views from the chalet and the sunsets are sensational. A beautiful experience we can’t wait to go back there next June.
Breathtaking chalet with stunning views
Exceptional Chalet with exhilarating views
I had a long weekend at Maison D’Hiver and also went at half term. We were lucky enough to arrive when the much awaited snow had arrived! Firstly, the aspect of the chalet is spectacular with the most stunning views both from inside and and on the balconies. Picture-perfect snowy mountains and snow covered trees! Perfect for sitting in the hot tub with a glass of something nice after a long day skiing (and disco ball overhead when it’s dark!). It’s not far to drive from the centre of Les Gets although snow tyres are essential in proper snowy weather. Having said that the road had been very well cleared when we were there. I was initially worried about not being in the centre but actually the space, and peace and quiet, you get from being slightly out is lovely and it’s a really quick drive to Les Gets with loads of parking. I would love to come back in the summer!
Inside the decor is gorgeous – sumptuous, cozy and rustically luxurious. It’s just a lovely feel, and feels a real homely sanctuary. The sofa by the fire fits plenty of bottoms and is ideal for snuggling up and reading or chatting. One evening we had 10 children for supper and despite the slight chaos the table more than catered for everybody, and they all loved crashing in the kids room to watch a film and play table football on the lower floor. The kitchen fees like it’s been there for years, made of natural wood, but with all teh mod cons.
The bedrooms are real a treat to be in. The main bedroom on the top floor has a great big bed, cozy and with a beautiful Art Deco inspired bathroom. The kids loved the bunks, a bit like a hideaway. And all the other bedrooms were so cozy I can imagine many people fancying a day off skiing just to stay in them!
As an area there is access to a huge skiing area. I got the bus to and back from Morzine a couple of times, so if snow is sparse in Les Gets being lower down it’s very easy to drive or get the bus to the super Morzine and have the Avoriaz area and Swiss side to ski.
To sum up, a beautifully stylish and exceptionally cozy place that you can’t wait to get back to after being out for the day!
Luxury in the Alps!
5 star luxury
A really beautiful, luxurious yet comfortable home with all mod cons easily accessed by car. Great views of the valley and a real treat to be able to relax in the hot tub or chill out on the balcony with apres ski drinks. I can’t wait to stay there again!
…one of the best family trips we have ever taken
This summer we decided to take our first non-beach family holiday. There was slight trepidation from all quarters of our family, we were giving up the scorching hot temperatures, private pool and sea views! Well fear not family this turned out to be one of the best family trips we have ever taken.
Masion D’Hiver is perched perfectly giving 180 degree views up and down the valley containing the three ski resorts of Porte du Soleil, also from its highest point you get a c100km view across the French Alps with the snow-capped glacier of Mont Blanc framing the horizon. Without doubt the property has the best views of any destination we have stayed in, I became addicted to cooking on the industrial sized BBQ in the garden, looking down the valley.
I for one love the Alps in winter, but there really is something magical about the Alps in summer and Maison D’Hhiver is perfectly placed to take advantage of it all. Whether its crystal clear water lakes to swim in, go ape style tree climbing, road or downhill biking (only if your bike fit, a stage of Le Tour finishes here!) or following the various levels of difficulty walks, it’s all here. There is something for everyone right on the door step of Masion D’Hiver.
Then there is inside! Wow Mrs Miles revelled in the pure luxury of the property, the two junior Miles’ hit the ‘den’ to cosy up and increase their addiction to the massive screen entertainment. Whilst I took in those views from the vast range of vantage points.
Each room makes the occupants feel like they are living somewhere special, there are so many small beautiful finishing touches, this makes you feel you are somewhere homely and not in a ‘rental’. My personal favourite design point is the lighting, when the sun goes down you get the chance to set the numerous lighting configurations to the mood you are looking for. It’s like getting a big hug off the lights!!
chic fabulous chalet
Beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable this is a real dream chalet. Immaculately kept, such wonderful beds, open fire, great dining area, hot tub, balconies with amazing views. Could not fault this and would definitely book again.
Dream alpine retreat, both in style, look and feel
So, you can see from the photos that the place is stunning. What you can’t see is the feel of the place. It feels like perfection. Restorative, fun, stylishly quirky.
Stylish, comfortable, well-equipped, luxury chalet
Our family so enjoyed our stay at Maison d’Hiver… The house is immaculate – warm, spacious and comfortable with all of the consideration and special touches you would expect from such stylish owners! The situation is great, with wonderful views from the balcony and terrace (especially from the hot tub!), and access to town very easy by car or a short walk downhill to the bus stop for the free shuttle bus that circuits around Les Gets.
We loved cooking and entertaining in the large kitchen and also the TWO dishwashers! We would absolutely stay again and have been recommending to friends. We can’t wait to return!
Quite simply my favourite place in the Alps!
My kids and I have stayed at Maison D’Hiver on a few occasions. It is a beautifully furnished and absolutely stunning chalet. There is loads of room for everyone to have their own space whilst retaining a warmth and charm that makes it feel cosy and warm. The views from the balcony and hot tub are outstanding, and you can just catch the tip of Mont Blanc on a clear day. If you are bored of that there is always the table football to distract you!
Its location in Les Gets gives great access to the local slopes, and is in a quieter area of the village so you benefit from the tranquillity of the mountains whilst being a short walk/drive from the bars and shops. The Les Get ski area is great for all abilities, and it is easy to access Morzine and the wider Portes du Soleil. Better still there are some wonderful smaller ski areas just a short drive away that are definitely worth exploring.
All in all you will not fail to be relaxed, rested and happy in high quality surroundings. Quite simply my favourite place in the Alps!
Exquisitely comfortable! Luxuriously practical!
Maison d’Hiver is the perfect chalet for a family skiing holiday.
We had a wonderful stay in April 2017. Highlights of the chalet for us include the many balconies and terraces to enjoy the stunning mountain views, not to mention the hot tub with groovy disco ball overhead; super comfy beds for log like sleep and spacious bathrooms with power showers and deep baths; the subtle lighting throughout; the big dining table to seat a small army….the list could go on. The kids loved the table football and ginormous TV!
Immaculate attention to detail in the design and furnishing of this chalet has created a real one off mountain retreat, ideal for winter or summer holidays; we can’t wait to go back next year!
